Kunming Dianchi International Convention and Exhibition Center is located in the Fubo Peninsula area of Guandu District, Kunming City, spanning 2,600 meters from north to south and 1,000 meters from east to west, with a large-scale, broad layout, and multi-level building complex elevated 12 meters above ground. The total planned land use is 2,280 mu. The project is divided into four functional areas: international exhibition zone, international conference zone, exhibition-themed tourism area, and exhibition supporting ecological community. The total above-ground construction area is approximately 4.048 million square meters, and the underground construction area is approximately 1.038 million square meters, with a total investment of approximately 34.462 billion yuan. Among this, land acquisition and infrastructure investment amount to approximately 2 billion yuan, construction engineering investment amounts to approximately 28.762 billion yuan, and interest during construction amounts to approximately 3.7 billion yuan.

Positioned as a large-scale urban comprehensive public construction project integrating international exhibitions, international conferences, tourism services, commercial cultural entertainment, etc., the Kunming Dianchi International Convention and Exhibition Center is required by the Yunnan provincial government to have the international exhibition zone in use for the Kunming Fair in June 2014, with an investment of approximately 5.931 billion yuan for this part.

The Kunming Dianchi International Convention and Exhibition Center aims to be a world-class, internationally leading convention center, built with the goal of creating a 'century masterpiece, timeless work'. It will be centered around conventions, integrating exhibition, conference, cultural experience, leisure entertainment, trade, and commerce, and will be a low-carbon, ecological, environmentally friendly, multifunctional international convention center. The architecture will be more iconic, unique, and singular. It fully embodies the characteristics of the times, professionalism, and Yunnan's distinctive features. Making the new Kunming International Convention and Exhibition Center both Yunnan's and the world's, belonging to both contemporary times and the future.

The Kunming Dianchi International Convention and Exhibition Center project is invested by Yunnan Century New Dianchi International Cultural Tourism Convention Investment Co., Ltd., and the roof and external grid steel structure深化Design, manufacturing, and installation are handled by China Construction Steel Structure Co., Ltd. This roof steel structure is a rare variable-section thin-walled bent-twisted full-welded spatial structure in China, with innovative and complex structures. The outer arc grids are all three-dimensional bent-twisted box-shaped components, and each component has a different bending and twisting angle and direction.
